Learning & Curriculum

The Lower Primary curriculum establishes a strong foundation in knowledge, skills, and personal development. At this stage, students study three core subjects: English, Science, and Mathematics. English and Science follow the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, while Mathematics is taught through the Singapore Maths approach. Students also learn two additional languages, Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia to develop early communication and literacy skills across multiple linguistic contexts.

Our Humanities Programme, which includes Geography, History, Art, ICT/STEM, Music, and PE, mirrors the structure and philosophy of the IPC. Through this programme, students explore concepts thematically and make connections across subjects, supporting interdisciplinary understanding and meaningful application of learning.

Years 1 to 3 are designed as the foundation stage. Teachers use engaging, hands-on, and developmentally appropriate activities to ensure students build a solid grounding in subject knowledge, critical skills, and conceptual understanding. Across the curriculum, students develop observation, inquiry, problem-solving, and early scientific thinking.

In addition to academic growth, the programme emphasises core competencies such as self-awareness, cooperation, responsibility, and respectful communication. Group work, class mission statements, and project-based activities help students practise these competencies and apply learning in authentic, connected ways.
